The Guttormsson Family Foundation created the Thorri for Snorri Project to raise money to provide Scholarships for the Snorri program. For more information about this program see the website.
This year we are providing $2,000 scholarships to three worthy US participants in the 2013 Snorri program.
Why do these Snorris need our help? The program is aimed at college and recent college graduates.
In the US today the average college grad carries a debt load of $26,000. According to a recent Rutgers study only 51% of college graduates, since 2006, have full-time jobs, and 11% are unemployed. The average salary for those with full-time jobs is only $27,000. The cost of the Snorri Program is over $6,500. And before the GFF started offering these Scholarships there was no aid for US participants at all.
We all know the future of North American Icelandic rests with the enthusiasm the Snorris bring back with them when they return home.
Please help us continue with our efforts to offer these Scholarships with your tax-deductible contribution to the Thorri for Snorri Project. Contact Steve Guttormsson at xpag@mac.com for more information.
