Last night the IcelandicRoots database site was upgraded. The primary purpose of the upgrade was to make more storage available for all of the new people - we are now over 600,000! - and photos that are being added to the database on a daily basis. We took this opportunity to move to a new computing platform which has the ability to support our growth for many years.
There will be no change in how you use the database. The biggest difference is that we no longer share our platform with other genealogical sites, so you should expect to see a more uniform response experience throughout the day. We also have the flexibility to add incremental capacity as it is needed in the future. All of our security features and data backup processes were reviewed and will continue to be in effect during and after our upgrade.
We wanted to tell you about this change so that you could see the thought and energy that goes into giving you a wonderful genealogical experience now and for the future.
