Unidentified Photos -Proof of Concept

Can you Help US?

Over time we have uncovered a large number of photos which we cannot identify.

Accessing Pictures

If you click on the next link, you will see a list of folders, each named with a geographical area within Iceland, Canada or the USA. All files within those folders, we believe, originated from families that lived in that region.

If you open one of these folders you will see the collection of files (photos).

Clicking on the actual file will open the picture so you can see it in more detail.

Good luck and have fun!!!!

Click Here to see the Pictures

More detail:

  • When looking at the folder, you can switch between a thumb view and a list view.

  • Once you are looking at a picture, you can navigate to the next picture by clicking on an arrow on the left or right hand side of the window.

Identifying Pictures

If you can identify a picture, a location or provide any more detailed information that might help us in identifying the photo, we would love for you to share the information with us.

Open the picture by clicking on it. Once it is open you can "right click" on the picture and a comment box will appear. You can put any text into that box.

Please include  enough information so that we can contact you if we have any questions - and also so that we can attribute the information to you

  • Your name

  • Your email

  • Today's Date

  • Date of the picture - if known

  • Location (if known)

  • Any comment (for example the persons name)

If you select an area within the picture (move the mouse to the top left corner of the selected area, left click and hold the mouse button, drag the mouse to the right bottom corner of the selected area, and then release the mouse button) you can relate your comment to a particular area in the picture - for example, you can put a name on each face in a family portrait.

THANK YOU! your information contributes to a better site for EVERYBODY!
