Icelandic Roots is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit, non-political, charitable organization with a mission to educate, preserve, and promote Icelandic Heritage.

The core aims of Icelandic Roots are to educate, promote and preserve interest and knowledge in the history of Iceland and its people; to strengthen the links between Icelanders and those of Icelandic descent in North America; to broaden access to historical documents and records for Icelandic genealogy and history; and to inspire pride in Icelandic heritage, traditions, language, literature, and culture.

We will continue to support, uphold, and add more information to Hálfdan’s Genealogy Database. We will continue to bring people together through the Cousins Across the Ocean project. We will assist people from across the globe that have an interest in Iceland, the people, the history, and the genealogical connections. We will work with the appropriate organizations to develop, implement, and support educational programs, literature, data, events, and lectures aimed at creating a greater understanding of Icelandic Heritage. We will continue to make connections between the people born in Iceland and the descendants of Icelandic people living in North America and all over the world.
