Spring Gardening at Icelandic Roots

Updated: Apr 10, 2022

You may have noticed something different about our Masthead: a new logo and a new name for the Icelandic Roots newsletter, as we adopt the winning entry from our Name The Newsletter contest that began at the beginning of the year and ended on March 31, 2022. You can read about the contest here.

In addition to a new name, we have been making other changes to the newsletter with the addition of some more backroom support to keep the newsletter a success. Editor in Chief, Sunna Furstenau, who started the newsletter single-handedly nine months ago, has been joined by a new team of volunteers.

Becky Byer-Adams handles our Copy Editing and Assignment Desk functions. Rob Olason assists with the newsletter layout and blog posts publishing. The newsletter has been very fortunate to have an expanding number of writers developing a wide range of interesting stories about our Icelandic Roots community. And if you have checked our YouTube channel lately you can see Icelandic Roots has been adding a lot of new content developed by many other volunteers. We also have Butch, an IT guru, who keeps our membership and subscription lists up to date.

In short, Icelandic Roots keeps expanding its offerings and as a result, the newsletter does the same. We also send out a member-only newsletter on the day before our Samtal Hour or other educational events and offerings we host for members, including the Zoom link, special membership information, recordings of member events, and more.

If you have missed an issue, you can find more in the Newsletter Archives or you can use the Search box at the top of the page to find articles on many topics. We hope you have been enjoying this public newsletter.
