Doreen Kristjanson Marston is a genealogist & media specialist on the Icelandic Roots database.

Doreen was born and raised in North Dakota, USA. Her father's Icelandic ancestors settled in Thingvalla, Pembina, ND with his mother arriving from Iceland in 1905. Her mother's Icelandic ancestors settled in Svold, Pembina, ND. Doreen is UND B.S. Home Economics graduate and Viterbo College B.S. Nursing graduate. She is a former high school Home Ec teacher, Singer Co-Educational Supervisor & retired Registered Nurse. She is married to Bruce and they have two children and two grandchildren. She has lived in North Dakota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Colorado, Florida and currently lives in Tennessee. She and Bruce enjoy exploring the US and Canada in their motor coach which often includes some genealogy research. She looks forward to meeting cousins at the Deuce Genealogy Center (Mountain, ND) each year and sharing in their search for their Icelandic ancestry.

Doreen's father, Hannes G. Kristjanson spent 25-plus years researching their family's Icelandic roots which provided the stepping stones for further research. Two trips to Iceland gave Doreen the opportunity to meet relatives, tour family farms, and walk in her ancestors’ footsteps. Time was also spent at Hofsós Emigration center, as well as Akureyri and Húsavík Libraries working with archivists at those centers. Doreen is pleased to share her love of Icelandic heritage as part of the Icelandic Roots volunteer team.
