Embark on a journey that transcends time with the Icelandic Roots 2025 Tour to Iceland (August 27–September 8, 2025.) It's a fabulous and special opportunity to honor our emigration heritage together with Icelandic Roots Emigration Port Ceremonies and many more special events. With only a few spots remaining, this is your chance to connect deeply with your roots while exploring the awe-inspiring landscapes that shaped our ancestors' lives.
Between 1854 and 1914, our ancestors departed Iceland in search of new beginnings in North America. This heartfelt tour is crafted to pay tribute to their courage and resilience. As part of this unique experience, you'll participate in three poignant Emigration Port Ceremonies held in Eyrarbakki, Stykkishólmur, and Húsavík—historic towns that served as pivotal departure points for those early emigrants. In 2023, we honored four other ports.
These ceremonies are more than just commemorations; they are moments of reflection and gratitude for the legacy our ancestors left behind. After each ceremony, you’ll be embraced by local communities eager to share coffee and conversation.
Traveling alongside passionate volunteers and members of Icelandic Roots, you’ll journey through breathtaking landscapes, exclusive access to special locations, and enjoyable meals and events.
On the last full day, we take part in the Icelandic National League of Iceland conference in Reykjavík. Before heading to the airport on September 8, we have special access to the Árni Magnússon Institute.
