They then took a homestead in the Mouse River Settlement where they lived the rest of their lives. Also honoring Helgi's wife and her great-grandmother, Anna Jónsdóttir, who emigrated in 1883 with her parents and brother. They came directly to Akra where they lived until 1887 when they moved to the Mouse River Settlement and lived the rest of their lives.

With deep gratitude for the nine Icelandic ancestors who left Skagafjörður, Eyjafjörður, and Langanesi in 1882, 1883, 1887, 1903, and 1905. Born in Pembina County, Barbie graduated from the University of North Dakota and had a distinguished career as a CPA. She raised her family in Bismarck and now carries forward our shared Icelandic stories, volunteering at the Rootshús as Finance Director.

Loretta served for over 20 years as Honorary Consul of Iceland to North Dakota, helping foster connections between Iceland and the communities shaped by Icelandic settlement. The Eyford School Project

A special project for saving the old Eyford School, mostly supported by Shirley Olgeirson and Robert Olgeirson. When efforts to save the old Eyford School proved unrealistic, the donated funds were held to save the Mountain Legion Hall, but that effort also proved unrealistic.  It is wonderful to have the opportunity to close the account with a donation to a wonderful, realistic project!​​​
