Join us for Book Club in May when the author of the Fire and Ice crime series, Michael Ridpath, will be joining us to discuss the first book in the series, Where The Shadows Lie.
After a career as a London bond trader, Michael turned his hand to writing successful financial crime thrillers, before embarking on his Fire and Ice series.

Where the Shadows Lie introduces us to Magnus, a detective born in Iceland but who had grown up in Boston. Here, Magnus joined the police force and had been working in criminal investigations. He was seconded to the Reykjavik police as a way of getting him out of harm's way from a situation at home. While working in Iceland, he simultaneously assisted with his greater experience of murder investigations. The story is coupled with the intrigue of a secret saga, which may have inspired Tolkien to write The Lord of the Rings, and when an expert on old Icelandic literature is murdered, the clock is ticking for Magnus to solve this age-old mystery.
