Have you read about our unique online events and wanted to join our online community but are not interested in researching your family history? Or are you very interested in Icelandic culture and would like to learn more but are not of Icelandic descent?
We now have a new membership that is made just for you with fantastic benefits and opportunities.
Samkoma means “gathering" in Icelandic, and this new membership offering from Icelandic Roots creates a gathering place for anyone to share their interests in the Icelandic land, its people, and its culture.
Unlike our genealogy database membership, which limits membership to people of
Icelandic descent and their spouses, Samkona is open to anyone, Icelandic or not.
As we built our genealogy database, we also developed this online community around
the database. We created newsletters exploring Icelandic topics, established
conversation hours on Icelandic themes, and developed webinars with subject
specialists who broadened our knowledge of Icelandic topics. We even started a book
club to explore Icelandic literature from Iceland and the Icelandic descendant
community of North America. We've spent a decade building this community and now
want to offer a new membership level for you to be a part of the charitable, educational mission. You will benefit from exclusive member-only perks, and have access to our vibrant online community.
For an annual Samkoma membership fee of only $52, you will receive exclusive access to our:
