Gunnar Birgisson

Born in Reykjavik, Gunnar attended schools in Iceland and the U.S., eventually graduating with a degree in English from U.C. Berkeley and then studying law at Duke University. He worked as a lawyer in Washington D.C. for three decades, specializing in renewable energy. 

The graphic novel, Huldufólk, which Gunnar co-authored, was published in December 2025 by Froskur Útgáfa in Reykjavik. It is a suspense story set in a dystopian future in Iceland. Gunnar wrote the story and the illustrations are by Fannar Gilbertsson. He is also the co-author of a comic book set in India, The Third Choice – a Saree Scene Mystery, which will be published in 2026. 

Gunnar and his wife Amanpreet currently reside in Houston, but also spends a few months a year in Iceland with travel to India and other places in between.
