Natalie Guttormsson

Alberta, CAN
Natalie is a fourth-generation Icelandic-Canadian (with English and Scottish roots, too) through her maternal grandfather. She has four ancestral families who immigrated from Iceland to Canada in 1875, 1876, 1878, and 1893. All of them left from the east fjords of Iceland.
Her interest in Icelandic Roots started in 2015 during her search for her 4x great-grandmother’s burial site—Lovísa María Samúelsdóttir. Using the Icelandic Roots database, digital newspaper records, and Sunna’s connections in North Dakota, Natalie found the gravesite of Lovísa and gained closure on her ancestor’s story. Natalie continues to fill in gaps within her family tree while helping others learn more about the incredible benefits of being an Icelandic Roots member (and volunteer!).
In addition to being on the Icelandic Roots marketing team, Natalie is both a Snorri alumna (2014) and a former Snorri Intern (2015). She is also a web designer and fantasy fiction author who lives with her family in Alberta, Canada.
